This is my kids go to dish when we are at Santa Anita Westfield Mall. Even though its food court food, they loveeee these noodles.
I normally come here and order the same thing over and over...LITERALLY. Instead of rice we sub for noodles which is an extra .50 cents. No veggies with chicken and a bit extra sauce. I'm here so often that yes, there is a stamp card here so I get to redeem it for a free dish. My kids also love the dumplings here which are juicy and crispy. Overall my kids absolutely love this place so I have no complaints here.
I also love how they put extra plates out for you so its easy for my kids to split and share one order since its a lot for a 4 & 6 year old to eat if ordered one for each of them. It's always very clean here and the staff is always very friendly.

I was craving chicken teriyaki for lunch and noticed Sarku inside the food court at Santa Anita mall. I had never eaten there so I was looking forward to trying them out.
It was a little disappointing. The chicken was rather bland. Even with adding the teriyaki sauce, it wasnt that good. They also give you a tiny container of it with your to-go order. There is no teriyaki sauce drizzled on the chicken so one tiny sauce container is all you have for a sizeable lunch. Not good. The chicken at least wasnt dry but it lacked flavor in my opinion. The veggies it came with were the same. No flavor. It comes with a good serving of white rice but the meal although on the go, left you wanting better.
I doubt I would go with Sarku again given the other options in the food court. -

If I could give zero stars, I would. Trust me. I would.
I had never had a situation so frustrating like this one and I regret all the times I gave this place my business. A situation that could've been avoided so easily took such a wrong turn...
I came to the food court to get food as one would do and I chose to go to Sarku Japan. I chose wrong.
I ordered their chicken teriyaki special, waited and waited for my order. Never saw my order get made. I told one of the employees and the lady legitimately said, "too late"
At this point I just wanted a refund and I couldn't even get that! Then they tried to compensate me with free sushi. I didn't ask for sushi, I didn't order sushi, I ordered chicken teriyaki. I don't even eat sushi. (INSULT TO INJURY)
I immediately contacted the mall staff about the matter, they were quick to answer, so a day later I came to get everything sorted out because the mall employees promised they would pay for my food for my next visit. Not only did that not happen, but after waiting over 20 minutes waiting for some sort of solution from both Sarku and the mall, they made it seem like I was the enemy and made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome.
I don't understand why they couldn't have just made me a new meal, but Sarku dug themselves into a hole and made an enemy out of me and they will regret what they did.
I'm not going to shit on this place and say their food is terrible because I throughly enjoy it, but I can't support a business that doesn't care about their customers. -

Try the chicken!
Often times they will have an employee right up front handing out samples to all who are willing to take from their gloved teriyaki stained hand.
I enjoy their chicken. It's tender, and cooked well. It has a nice texture and most importantly, isn't dry. I cannot stand dry chicken!
If you love teriyaki sauce, they'd be more than happy then to douse some more of it all over the entree!
I also like their rice. It is nice, soft, and has that sticky quality that is commonly found in Japanese cuisine.
So with the price you are paying, I think they do a very good job in prepping delicious chicken. I've been to restaurants that do a horrible job preparing the dish! If you order extra chicken, it is also large enough to share, so that's always a plus!
For a fast food chain, I do not think it is bad at all! Chicken and rice. Plain and simple! -

4.2 stars for Sarku!
I am SO shocked by the low rating of this place because I am the biggest fan of Sarku's Chicken Teriyaki (disclaimer: but I am also the biggest fan of Yoshinoya so stop reading here if you no longer trust my food judgment). Chicken Teriyaki is their daily special and the only dish I've ever ordered in the 5+ times I have eaten here.
Obviously, just like how Panda Express is not real Chinese food, Sarku Japan is not authentic Japanese food, but if you treat it like fast food, it is legit really good! Realistic expectations guys!
The veggie side tastes just like it looks- boiled nothingness. But the chicken teriyaki is legit addicting. If you take a sample, you will not be able to resist buying a whole plate! :P They are smart about marketing.
